how to get to bella coola
departs from YVR south terminal
we had to divert to anahim lake and then take the bus down to bella coola (apparently pretty common). it's a rough ride and tacks on a good 1-2 hours to your journey
where to stay in bella coola
captain len and his family own and operate bella coola grizzly tours, which also have a set of cabins just outside town near the airport. the cabins are great and is a great take-off location for his boat tours
where to eat in bella coola
pacific ocean - whatever mother nature gives you. freshest and best seafood i've ever eaten, and we live on the west coast of canada. so good!
what to do in bella coola
we did a 2 night fjord tour with captain len and his son. slept on the boat and explored the fjords, looked for bears and enjoyed mother nature
captain len used to be a trapper and guide and is extremely knowledgeable about the area the wildlife. he's also one of the nicest people you'll come across. definitely recommend the tour
grizzly bear watch
the river the goes across the chilcotin-bella coola highway is a great place to check out the grizzlies. they'll wander in from time to time so keep your zoom lenses handy. be careful as they'll get close!
